A photography workshop for neurodiverse young adults was organised by The Art Sanctuary in Delhi on 16-17th November 2022.

Internationally renowned photographer- Samar Jodha trained select handpicked neurodiverse photographers in the art of expressing their inner thoughts through the camera. These 10 young adults, 16+ years old were trained intensively over 2 days.

The workshop was hosted by NGMA, Delhi and STIR gallery.

Similar workshops were executed in Ahmedavad, Mumbai and Kolkata. They are being planned in other cities across india.

The photographs from these workshops were selected and curated into a calendar for 2023.

Finding Our Voices

The first ONLINE workshop was a 3 part photography workshop conducted by internationally renowned photographer Samar Jodha. ‘Finding Our Voice’ was aimed at training the young adults to understand how their photographs speak, and tell stories, to their audience. It was a fascinating journey for the 10 youngsters who lapped up everything that was taught to them.

Smart Phone Film Making

The first certified training was offered in New Delhi in July-August 2019. The Films and Television Institute of India, Pune partnered with us to specially design a course in Smartphone Film Making. 10 young adults were trained in this art in the premises of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. The course was sponsored by The Indian Oil Corporation, India. At the end of the course, students formed groups and produced 3 short films, widely acclaimed by the films fraternity.

The second certified training was offered online in July-August 2020. Mr. Ajmal Jami trained 10 young adults in this art, in the comforts of their own homes. The course was sponsored by Kalyani Steels, India. At the end of the course, each student produced a short film, widely acclaimed by the films fraternity. Some were shortlisted for and presented at the Khajuraho International Film Festival, 2021.

Clay Banana

The first workshop was conducted in July 2019, in Gurugram, India. Banana Studios sponsored this workshop and 10 young adults with intellectual difficulties learnt the tricks of the trade. They practiced with clay and then left them to dry. The workshop was conducted again in end August, where the same students were taught how to color and glaze their pieces. The ones who enjoyed this the most and showed talent, were mentored long term in the space of clay modeling by Mrs. Nina Mehrotra of Banana Studios.
